Introduction to Baroque Dance Weekend Workshop
Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October 2026, 2 – 5pm, East Kew 3102
If you have ever watched our Baroque dancers and thought ‘I’d love to give that a try’, this is your chance!
In this workshop, which will be run over two 3-hour sessions, the Courtly Arts Performers invite you to dip a toe into the history, theory and choreography of Baroque dance, including:
- the origins, contemporary context and legacy of Baroque dance
- different Baroque dance styles and the steps associated with them
- choreographic notation
- learning an authentic Baroque dance
Prior dance experience is recommended, but not essential.
Please note: this is a two-session workshop. You ticket ($100) includes both sessions.
Concerts in November:
Journey back to a world where the ideals, stories and imagery of Ancient Greece and Rome inspired a new age of music and dance. Echoes of Antiquity explores the fascination with the classical past that shaped Renaissance and Baroque artistic culture, bringing to life music and dances inspired by ancient mythology, philosophy and the classical ideal. Performed by musicians and dancers in authentic period costumes and featuring music on period instruments, this concert reveals how the ancient world continued to resonate through the courts and theatres of Europe centuries later.
